Eric Gerber, a talented singer/songwriter based in Wimberley, Texas, first found his musical footing in the energetic Boston songwriting community of the late ’90s. He shared that creative space with notable names like Kevin So, Mary Gauthier, and Lori McKenna—who later joined him for a duet on the title track of his debut album, Boston By Friday.
Eric discovered the Kerrville Folk Festival in 1998 and was selected as a NewFolk Finalist two years later. Although he wasn’t among the six winners that year, the experience was life-changing—he met his future wife at the event and has called Texas home ever since.
Now settled in the scenic Texas Hill Country, Eric balances music and teaching. He’s a middle school AVID instructor in San Antonio, helping bright young minds explore their academic potential and prepare for college or future careers. Music still plays a major role in his life: in 2012, he started the band Eric Gerber Three, which released a well-received debut album in 2017. The group was later honored with a performance slot at the Kenneth Threadgill Theater during the 2018 Kerrville Folk Festival.
